Originally entitled The Night Chronicles: Devil, Mr Night went back to his roots of teasing
the human mind. He stuck to his original concept, “nothing’s what it seems”. Mr.Night
focuses on ideas, & not so much writing/producing/directing or acting.
Mr.Night may have came up with the idea, but Brian Nelson (Hard Candy, 30 Days of
Night) wrote the screen play & the Dowdle brothers made their directorial debut with
this film, their fusion made Devil a tension building movie. It doesn’t give you cheap
“pop up” thrills, or fountains of gore. Devil keeps the audience in a “guessing game”
loop, from start to end; you will doubt even your wildest conclusions.
The movie narrator tells of an old-folk's saying that goes, “The Devil comes to Earth
once in a while to claim the souls of the dammed”. This movie stars no-famous
actors; they randomly come together, trapped in an elevator. As the lights go out,
evil comes out to play. These strangers have to deal with supernatural happenings
as they suspect that someone amongst them is the killer. All “I” can say is suspect
the unsuspected.
5 strangers from different walks of life, 4 who watches their demise, 3 professions
trying to get them out, 2 lives that will change forever & 1 Devil.
A definitely MUST watch for all those thriller freaks!
